16 Maine teachers were announced today, May 9, as 2024 County Teachers of the Year.

The announcement came at a ceremony in the Hall of Flags at the Maine State Capitol during Teacher Appreciation Week.

The Maine Department of Education’s Teacher of the Year Program is administered through a collaborative partnership with Educate Maine.

  • Androscoggin: Leah Boucher, Farwell Elementary School, Lewiston
  • Aroostook: Kelly Morin, Fort Fairfield Middle/High School, Fort Fairfield
  • Cumberland: Katie Strait, Baxter Academy for Technology and Science, Portland
  • Franklin: Vickie Lailer, W.G. Mallett School, Farmington
  • Hancock: Ryan Lowell, Ellsworth High School, Ellsworth
  • Kennebec: Kristel Anuszewski, Windsor Elementary School, Windsor
  • Knox: Jim Morse, Camden-Rockport Middle School, Camden-Rockport
  • Lincoln: Becky Hallowell, Wiscasset Elementary School, Wiscasset
  • Oxford: Elizabeth Ledesma, Mountain Valley Middle School, Mexico
  • Penobscot: Emilie Throckmorton, Bangor High School, Bangor
  • Piscataquis: Robyn Rich, Piscataquis Community Secondary School, Guilford
  • Sagadahoc: Allyson Gilbert, Mt. Ararat High School, Topsham
  • Somerset: Kaley Brown, Skowhegan Area High School, Skowhegan
  • Waldo: Shilo Burnham, East Belfast School, Belfast
  • Washington: Ashley Cirone, Harrington Elementary School, Harrington
  • York: Danielle Pelletier, CK Burns School, Saco

Maine County Teachers of the Year serve as ambassadors for teachers, students and schools throughout the state and will participate in the Maine State Teacher of the Year selection process throughout the summer.
