It looks like we may get a great glimpse of the first full moon of the month tonight, Aug. 1. The super moon will be closer than usual, just 222,159 miles away.
According to Wikipedia:
A supermoon is a full moon or a new moon that nearly coincides with perigee—the closest that the Moon comes to the Earth in its elliptic orbit—resulting in a slightly larger-than-usual apparent size of the Moon as viewed from Earth.
The first supermoon of the month will be visible tonight! The weather in Maine looks great for viewing with clear skies and cool temps. 🌕🌃https://t.co/4RH0Tn2iE8
