Cliff Gelina has been playing bluegrass/country music for most of his life. He is an amazing musician, an phenomenal vocalist and a masterful songwriter.

He joined me on the BS Show to talk about upcoming events with his band, Breakin’ Strings, and to shar the lyrics to a song he wrote the night before and it speaks volumes.

Here are the lyrics to the song, which he and the band will play live at the Portland House of Music on Friday night.

Its title is, The Hell With it All.

(co-written by Cliff Gelina and Justin Flagg)

I want to live in a cabin way out in the fields
away from the cities, maybe up in the hills
I want to live off the land, say the hell with you all
cause life ain’t living, if you ain’t living at all

I was born in 88, I’m not a very old man
but I’ve seen this world change a few times over again
They want us to fight, the lefts and the rights
while this whole world just crumbles right before our eyes

I say the hell with it all
it just ain’t the same
it’s like we’re always playing
some broken board game
because you can’t ever win
no matter how hard you try
but we keep on just playing
till the day that we die

I say the hell with it all

The farm lands are all gone
because China bought us out
the gas tank is empty
and the power just went out
that cold morning air, will always just hit
But that ol’ global warming
they say is all that exists

I say the hell with it all
Oh I say the hell with it all

Yeah we gotta help our own
instead of Ukraine
it’s time to put ourselves first because this is getting insane
cuz like I was saying
it’s one hell of a game
but what really matters
is that we’re on the same team
Or the hell with it all

I say the hell with it all
it just ain’t the same
it’s like we’re always playing
some broken board game
because you can’t ever win
no matter how hard you try
but we keep on just playing
till the day that we die

I say the hell with it all

I’m proud that he wants to debut the recording, when it’s finished, on the BS Show. I’m sure it will live up to the high standards the group has set for itself.

Here’s the latest single, Stones.
