Maine’s Bicentennial was in 2020. Events, because of the pandemic, unfortunately had to be postponed. However, the celebration of Maine’s 200th anniversary will go on, just a year late.
The Maine Bicentennial Commission is scheduling for later this year a “200-Plus-One” campaign. A tentative schedule includes a Maine Statehood Day Ceremony during the summer in Augusta, a parade in Lewiston/Auburn and a “Time Capsule Sneak Peek and Participation Kickoff” some time in the spring.
Maine’s Bicentennial Commission regrets that most events planned to celebrate Maine’s 200th birthday are on hold because of the COVID-19 crisis. We are working on alternate plans and timetables to give Maine’s 200th anniversary of Statehood the celebration it deserves.
