From Maine State Police:
On Friday, August 18, 2023 at approximately 2:35 pm, Maine State Police responded to a two vehicle crash at mile marker 105 NB on the Turnpike in Farmingdale. Initial investigation indicates that a tractor trailer unit was traveling northbound in the passing lane when vehicles ahead slowed and came to a stop due to heavy rain and poor visibility. In an effort to avoid the TT unit the driver of a pickup truck that was traveling behind the TT Unit swerved toward the medium, hit the guardrail and ended up getting wedged with the TT Unit. No one was injured. One lane remained open until heavy hauling equipment was brought in to remove the trucks. One they arrived all lanes were closed for about 10 minutes while both trucks were removed. Traffic was backed up for miles. All lanes are now back open and traffic is starting to move.
