NY Man Arrested in Bangor: Drugs, Cash, Handguns Seized

28-year-old Antron K. Owens of Brooklyn, New York, who was wanted on numerous outstanding warrants, was taken into custody yesterday, April 13, in Bangor, and charged with aggravated drug
trafficking offenses. A search warrant was also executed on an apartment in the Capehart section of Bangor as part of this investigation.

For the past two months, investigators assigned to MDEA’s North Central Task Force have been investigating the sale of crack cocaine and fentanyl from a Moosehead Boulevard residence in Bangor. This investigation included undercover purchases of crack cocaine from the suspect, 28-year-old Antron K. Owens of Brooklyn, New York. During the late afternoon of April 13, 2023, MDEA agents and Bangor Police Officers attempted to take Owens into custody as he sat inside a vehicle located a short distance away from Moosehead Boulevard. As agents and officers approached, Owens fled from the car on foot. Officers immediately gave chase. During the foot chase, officers observed Owens throw what turned out to be a stolen 9mm handgun to the ground. Owens was eventually captured a short distance from where he fled on foot. At the time of his arrest, Owens was in possession of approximately $2500 in suspected drug proceeds.

At the time of Owens arrest, he was wanted on ten outstanding arrest warrants. Among them were warrants for Kidnapping, Domestic Violence Aggravated Assault, Domestic Violence Terrorizing, Criminal Restraint, Criminal Mischief, Violations of Conditions of Release, Failure to Appear and Failure to Stop for an Officer. Cash bail set on all the outstanding arrests warrants exceeds $30,000. In addition to the warrants, Owens was out on seven active sets of bail. All warrants and bail conditions are from the State of Maine.

Following Owens arrest, MDEA agents, along with officers from the Bangor Police Department executed a search warrant on a Moosehead Boulevard home where Owens had been staying.

Seized from the home was approximately 65 grams of fentanyl and another handgun in which the serial numbers had been removed. Street value of the seized drugs is approximately $10,000.
