A public hearing was held today, March 22, at the State House considering bill to repeal ranked choice voting in Maine.
The bill is sponsored by Republican Representative Ed Polewarczyk from Wiscasset.
The term ranked voting, also known as preferential voting or ranked choice voting refers to any voting system in which voters rank their candidates or options—in a sequence of first, second, third, and so on—on their respective ballots… Election of single members using ranked votes is often instant-runoff voting.
