Senator Susan Collins today (July 9) toured Hollis Elementary School.
The senator said she feels the decision to reopen schools lies solely with the individual states, based upon their own risk factors and prevalence of cases. According to the Press Herald, she said, “I think we need more funding, not threats to withhold funding.”
Collins was responding to President Donald Trump’s threat to cut funding to schools that don’t open due to pandemic concerns.

I spoke with MSAD 6 leaders about the steps they are taking to keep their schools safe & help students continue to achieve their educational goals. The next COVID-19 relief package must include additional funds to help districts implement measures to protect school communities. pic.twitter.com/K8mgFFeoQn
