And the winner is….Sheriff Dale Lancaster!

See how I took a newspaper story and made it into a single, short sentence? That, my friend, is brevity…the soul of wit!

To expand just a bit, according to a local paper, Somerset County Sheriff Dale Lancaster and Skowhegan Police Chief David Bucknam had a “rift.”

What?!

I would rather say the two got into a bit of a “snit,” but that’s me.

So here’s the deal….

SAD 54 decided to hire a second school resource officer and were concerned about jurisdiction. The sheriff’s office is county wide where the police department is, supposedly, just Skowhegan. The board voted in favor of the sheriff’s office.

Ahead of the vote, Chief Bucknam said he would consider removing the current SRO that his department has working if the second one came from the sheriff’s office.

Some people might say he was in a snit while others might say he had his panties in a bunch. Me? I’m saying nothin’! I’m just saying.

So where’s the jelly donut fight? That was just click bait and, from what I’ve heard, every law enforcement officer in central Maine has been going to this story to see what it’s about.
