Yesterday (Dec. 30) investigators from the state Fire Marshal’s office, Deputies from the Waldo County Sheriff’s Department, and Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms executed a search warrant at an apartment building located at 369 School Street in Unity.
At approximately 6 p.m., Investigators searched one apartment and secured a 2009 Toyota Camry. The vehicle was searched and transported to Augusta for further examination.
Investigators also arrested Derek Creasy, 38, of Unity, charging him with arson and attempted murder for a fire that occurred at 30 Turner Court in Unity on Dec. 22.
Creasy was transported to the Waldo County Jail.

Investigators from the state Fire Marshal’s office have had a presence in Unity for most of the past week and have been assisted with their investigative efforts by the Waldo County Sheriff’s Department and Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms.
The second fire that occurred at 30 Turner Court and a third fire that occurred at the United Methodist Church in Unity are still under investigation. If anyone has information regarding the fires, please call 207-624-7076 and ask to speak to Sgt. Joel Davis.
